In December 2018, I was elected President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. It was a milestone in many ways. For me personally, it was the culmination of years of dedication and hard work.
As part of the College’s review of its governance structure and processes, we are pleased to confirm that all Fellows and Members of the College and its Faculties, who have paid the current year’s subscription fee appropriate to their own country of residence, will now be able to vote in the annual elections to College Council and Faculty Executive Boards. This resolution was passed at the College’s Annual General Meeting on 4 December 2020, with 90% in favour of the motion.
Mike McKirdy has been elected by the membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow to serve as President Elect. Mr McKirdy will hold this post for the next twelve months, before succeeding Professor Jackie Taylor as President in December 2021.
The results of this year’s College Council elections were announced today (Friday 4th December 2020) at the College’s Annual General Meeting.
The College has appointed two new Associate Directors for examinations. Dr Moe Thaw Oo is our new Associate Director of Medical Examinations and Siobhan Kyle is our new Associate Director of Dental Examinations:
Each year, members of College Council and Faculty Boards participate in a service at Glasgow Cathedral to mark the anniversary of the founding of the College and afterwards, to lay a wreath on the tomb of Maister Peter Lowe which is in the Cathedral graveyard. This is a colourful occasion including a formal gowned procession.
